13th & K St, 1968

Summer of ’68. We’re back on K Street, at 13th St. Look at the deco curve on the Joseph Cronan building… and the neon between the street lamp and the stop light there on the right…

This is “Photo Zero”— the one that started this whole project!

This is the shot that got me started! Corner of 26th & I St in midtown. Taken in 1968.

Weekend fun!

I spent some time on Saturday and Sunday at the Sac Public Library in the Sacramento Room. It’s a fantastic resource for local history, and I got a headstart on some future posts!

Thanks to the Sacramento Room team for helping me get re-acquainted with their collection!

16th & Broadway

Broadway_1968This is a fantastic shot of not one, but two of Sacramento’s iconic buildings… the Tower Theatre and the Tower Records store at 16th & Broadway in downtown Sacramento. Nowadays, the greenscape has grown up to obscure the lower portion of the theatre building, but this is the view back in 1968!
